Gimli is a dwarf who is a hero throughout the Battle for Middle-earth series. He is also the hero of the Dwarven faction in the second game.
Gimli, Son of Gloin, was present at the Council of Elrond and part of The Fellowship of the Ring. Gimli's battle prowess is considerable—even by Dwarven standards—so it was no small gesture for him to represent the Dwarves in The Fellowship. It was Gimli who encouraged The Fellowship to pass under the Misty Mountains by way of Moria, where he discovered the tomb of his cousin Balin. After escaping Moria, Gimli was granted one of the rarest gifts for a Dwarf—entrance to Lothlorien, where he met the Elf Queen Galadriel. After meeting her, his view of the Elves changed considerably. He became a loyal friend to Legolas. During the defense of Helm's Deep, Gimli was instrumental in holding the Glittering Caverns against the Uruk Hai, who attempted to enter from the mountains. Ultimately Gimli became the Lord of the Glittering Caverns before following joining Legolas in his journey across the sea to the West.
Gimli begins BFME with 2000 Health and 60 melee damage. He can use the Axe Throw ability to kill multiple foes at once. Gimli is a powerful hero, critical to the survival of the Fellowship in the campaign, and useful in Skirmish for his tendancy for heavy combat.
